Figure Drawing is foundational to Art Education

Clay Collective is honored to be the host of Boise's first and only Nude Figure Drawing Club. We have been operational for 2 years, offering artists a weekly practice drawing from life with a nude model. The Figure Drawing Club was started by a local artist who was born and raised in Idaho. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, this artist moved back to Boise to bring this invaluable experience to their community.

Figure Drawing is a critical part of art education and we believe that every person should have access to it. Our Figure Drawing Club offers a weekly devoted practice for individuals. The act of stopping life to observe and create without judgement is a meditative process and can be very therapeutic. There are many benefits to drawing from life, it quiets the mind, lowers stress levels, challenges perception, builds confidence and truly developes the eye to see a 3 dimensional living being and channel that energy into art. This is something that cannot be done while drawing from google images. Access to a safe space with a nude model helps normalize nudity and celebrate our beautiful human bodies. We have a diverse group of models of all body types and genders. We keep it real. Most importantly, our Figure Drawing Club it is a welcoming space that fosters community and the development of culture in our city. The more normalized it becomes for individuals to express themselves through creativity the more healing there will be in the world.

Your donation helps our club stay active. We are raising funds to afford proper studio lighting, curtains, easels and other necessary materials. Your donation also helps our scholarship fund to help lower income communities have the opportunity to join our drawing sessions. Thank you so much for donating.

Donations over $100 will be given a free session in our club. We would love for our donors to experience the joy of Figure Drawing.
