Clay Collective Studio Policies

Clay Collective is a shared community studio. Every member plays an important role in keeping the space clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. Please take a few minutes to review the following studio policies.

Studio Cleanup

Please leave your workspace ready for the next member by completing the following before you leave:

  • Remove all clay from wheels, tables, tools, bats, wareboards, and other work surfaces.

  • Wash and return all studio tools to their designated storage areas.

  • Clean up clay, slip, debris, and excess water from the floor around your workspace.

  • Mop your work area if needed.

  • Leave your workspace and surrounding area clean, organized, and ready for the next person to use.

Clay Handling & Reclaim

To protect our plumbing and help us recycle clay efficiently:

  • Never dispose of clay or slurry in sinks or drains.

  • Place all usable clay scraps in the designated reclaim containers.

  • Follow studio instructions for separating reclaim clay and non-reclaim waste.

Improper clay disposal can cause costly plumbing damage and may result in members being held responsible for repair costs.

Equipment & Studio Care

Our studio equipment is shared by the entire community. Please help us keep it in excellent condition.

  • Use wheels, tools, bats, wareboards, and other equipment responsibly and as intended.

  • Clean equipment after each use.

  • Report any broken or damaged equipment to staff as soon as possible.

  • Members may be financially responsible for damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or failure to follow studio guidelines.

Safety & Shared Responsibility

A safe studio benefits everyone.

  • Keep floors, shelves, and work surfaces free of standing water to reduce slip hazards.

  • Wipe down all surfaces to minimize toxic silica dust from entering the air

  • Store materials neatly and keep walkways clear.

  • Be respectful of shared spaces, equipment, and fellow members.

  • Follow all studio instructions and staff guidance while using the space.

Failure to follow studio policies or maintain shared studio standards may result in temporary or permanent suspension of studio access or membership privileges.

By participating in Clay Collective, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to follow these studio policies. Your cooperation helps create a clean, safe, and inspiring environment where our entire community can create, learn, and thrive.
